JULIUS VON KLEVER
Julius von Klever, born on 31 January 1850 in Dorpat, was a Russian landscape painter of Baltic German origin.
Between 1867 to 1876, he studied first architecture then painting at the Imperial Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg.
He took part in numerous exhibitions in Vienna. In 1878 he became a member of the St. Petersburg Academy and in 1881 a professor of landscape painting.
In 1881 his paintings were displayed in Berlin where he received a Gold medal. In 1886 he also displayed his works in Munich and Antwerp.
Klever was ennobled in 1893 and between 1901 and 1904 he settled down in Riga, followed by a move to Berlin and Neustrelitz. Toward the end of his life, he returned to Russia and died in Leningrad on 24 December 1924.
